Defender nets call-up into

Defender Kieron Freeman has received a call-up to the latest Wales Under-21 squad.

The 20-year-old full-back has been named in the Wales squad for their UEFA European Championship 2013 Under-21 Qualifier in Llanelli on Friday 22nd March 2013 (kick-off 6pm) against Moldova.

The August 2012 signing from Nottingham Forest has made 12 first-team appearances for the Rams this season. He has also been capped at various youth international levels for Wales, nine of which have come at Under 21 level.

He has been on the sidelines in recent weeks with an ankle injury, but returned to action as an unused substitute in the Rams’ 3-1 reverse at Birmingham City last weekend.

Freeman won’t miss a Derby match as a result of his latest call-up, and will return to the squad in time for the home game against Bristol City on Friday 29th March 2013.

Meanwhile, Mark O’Brien has been placed on stand-by for the Republic of Ireland Under 21 Squad for the forthcoming international versus Portugal, which will take place in Dublin on Monday 25th March 2013.

Like Freeman, he returned from a month out with a knee injury as an unused substitute in the defeat at Birmingham City.
