Derby County will round off their 2012-13 pre-season schedule with a trip to League Two side Chesterfield on Saturday afternoon.
The fixture falls three days before the side’s curtain raiser at home to Scunthorpe United in the First Round of the Capital One Cup.
Since the Rams’ pre-season opener against Mansfield Town towards the end of July, Nigel Clough’s men have remained unbeaten following victories over both Burton Albion and Northampton Town, as a well as a 2-2 draw at Colchester United and 1-1 draw with Premier League side Sunderland on Wednesday evening.
Derby County Team News
Rams boss Nigel Clough has revealed he is unlikely to select players who are set to feature against Scunthorpe United on Tuesday evening.
Therefore goalkeeper
Adam Legzdins, James Bailey, Conor Doyle, Ben Davies, Michael Hoganson and trialist Valentin Gljokaj are all set to feature after coming through Tuesday night’s Derby County XI fixture away to Belper Town.
Jeff Hendrick and Jamie Ward could play a part at the B2net Stadium, as the pair are unavailable for Tuesday’s Capital One Cup fixture after receiving call-ups to the Ireland under-21 and Northern Ireland squads respectively.
Mason Bennett could be in line for a return after suffering an ankle injury at Christchurch Meadow which required an x-ray, whilst Craig Bryson, James O’Connor, Mark O’Brien and Gareth Roberts will not be risked as they recover from slight knocks.
Striker Steven Davies, who is available for transfer and hasn't featured in any of Derby's pre-season games so far, is expected to feature fter initially not being risked in match situations ahead of a potential departure. With no move currently on the cards, he is expected to get some match fitness under his belt.
Chesterfield Team News
Chesterfield boss John Sheriden is hoping to have left-back Nathan Smith available for selection, as well as veteran striker Jack Lester who came through ten minutes in the side’s 3-0 pre-season defeat to Huddersfield Town on Tuesday after injury.
The Sprieites will start their 2012-13 season in midweek against League One Tranmere Rovers in the Capital One Cup, ahead of a League Two opener against AFC Wimbledon next weekend.
