In honour of Rams legend Roy McFarland, Derby County last month named the bar in the Pedigree Suite, McFarland’s Bar and it will be in use exclusively for season ticket holders for the first time on Saturday when Sheffield Wednesday head to Pride Park Stadium.
The McFarland’s Bar @ The Pedigree Suite will allow season ticket holders FREE ADMISSION for the visit of the Owls and supporters are encouraged to arrive early to take their spot, while all prior purchased memberships will be guaranteed entry on the day.
McFarland’s Bar will be officially opened at 2pm by the man himself and Derby County Chairman Andy Appleby, while a number of ex-Rams from the 1971-72 First Division title-winning side will also to be in attendance. A question and answer session will follow with legendary Rams Alan Hinton and Terry Hennessey, who have flown in especially from the USA and Australia to take in the opening game of the campaign.
As part of an introductory offer, the first 300 memberships of McFarland’s Bar will be available exclusively to season ticket holders for only £10 for the entire 2012-13 season, thereafter memberships will revert to the normal price of £25. Memberships can be purchased on Saturday within the Pedigree Suite for those that would like to see the facility prior to purchasing, but entry will be on a strictly first come first served basis.
McFarland’s Bar @ The Pedigree Suite will be hosted at each home game by a Derby County compere who will deliver sports quiz competitions, interview special guests and distribute prizes courtesy of Club Partner Marston’s. Past and present Derby County players, plus mascot Rammie, will be regularly in attendance throughout the campaign.
In addition a wide range of wines, beers and soft drinks will be on offer, with the best beer prices around from only £2.50 per pint available from opening time until 90 minutes before kick-off. A choice of hot food will also be available to purchase from the newly installed Butcher’s Block facility.
Speaking at the unveiling of McFarland’s Bar, he said: “It is a great honour to have the supporters bar named after myself, especially on the 40th anniversary of winning the 1st Division Championship title.
“I think it is a great idea by the Club to offer the supporters such a great facility on a matchday, and I shall certainly be popping in throughout the season for a pint!”
Season ticket holders are encouraged to purchase their membership prior to the opening game from the Digonex Ticket Office or by calling 0871 472 1884 (option 1) to take advantage of the offer and enhance their matchday experience.
