Striker comes off the bench as he looks to kick-start his international career.

Derby County striker Jamie Ward came off the bench for Northern Ireland last night to collect his second full international cap.

Ward was introduced into the action at half-time as Michael O’Neill’s men drew 3-3 with Finland in a lively international friendly in Belfast, ahead of next month’s World Cup 2014 Qualifiers.

The 26-year-old played the entire second half on the right-hand side of midfield and put in a performance which will keep him in O’Neill’s thoughts ahead of next month’s matches against Russia and Luxembourg.

Ward will travel back to Derby today and re-join the squad as preparations for the 2012-13 npower Championship curtain-raiser against Sheffield Wednesday at Pride Park Stadium.
