RACE HOTS UP IN ALL TIME XI

Posted on: Thu 20 Aug 2009

The race is well and truly on to find Derby County's greatest ever central-midfielders.

As part of the Rams' 125th year anniversary, the club have teamed up with the Derby Evening Telegraph to select Derby County's greatest all-time XI and Manager.

So far fans have voted for goalkeeper (Colin Boulton), a left-back (Ron Webster), a right-back (David Nish), two centre-backs (Roy McFarland and Igor Stimac), a right-midfielder (Stefano Eranio) and a left-midfielder (Alan Hinton).

Next month the search will be on for the two greatest centre forwards in the Rams' history, followed by the search for the Rams' greatest-ever Manager.

The votes have been flooding in for the central midfield spots, and there is just under a week to go until the deadline closes.

The likes of Archie Gemmil, Alan Durban, and Robbie Van Der Laan are all in the running, as well as a number of other former stars from the past.

Supporters have until Tuesday 25 August to get your votes in via a coupon in the Derby Evening Telegraph, www.therams.co.uk and by e-mail to webmaster@dcfc.co.uk.

There will be a prize each month for a winning fan drawn from those who have voted for the chosen player.

The fan will receive a team shirt with the name and team number of the chosen player. This will be signed, if possible, by the player.
