Phil Cannon starts work as the Rams' new Academy manager on Monday hoping to bring his record of success at other clubs.

Cannon joins Derby from Everton, where he was the head of schoolboy recruitment, and he was previously at Swindon Town.

The highly thought-of Scouser replaces Wolverhampton Wanderers-bound Kevin Thelwell.

Derby boss Paul Jewell wished Thelwell all the best for his new role and added: "Phil has been at Everton and Swindon, and has got a real good eye for the recruitment of players.

"He has got good contacts, both at home and abroad, and we are hoping he will help us to strengthen."
