Clough/Taylor Monument Opening

Posted on: Fri 27 Aug 2010

Derby County supporters will get the first opportunity to view the Brian Clough & Peter Taylor monument, located in the area which will be known as Unity Plaza, prior to Saturday's npower Championship fixture with Queens Park Rangers.

Fans are invited to attend the official opening ceremony on Saturday at 1pm at Pride Park to see a former player from the Clough/Taylor era and Derby County Chief Executive Officer Tom Glick officially unveil the monument to the public.

The greatest managerial partnership in football history is being reunited less than a year after the project was announced.

The 9 foot bronze statue of the world famous football partnership is the centrepiece to Unity Plaza and will become a focal point for football fans from all over the world.

Derby County Vice President of Operations John Vicars said: "I am sure everyone will be impressed by what has been created.

"I know I speak for everyone associated with the project when I say it has been a privilege to have been involved in creating something of this magnitude that will stand outside Pride Park for generations to come."

Both the Clough and Taylor families will have the opportunity to view the monument on Friday in a private ceremony.
