NEW BRANCH IS UP AND RUNNING

Posted on: Fri 17 Aug 2007

The very first building society branch at a UK football ground is up and running at Pride Park Stadium.

Derby County has teamed up with Derbyshire Building Society to open the only building society branch of its kind in the country.

The branch offers a full range of mortgage savings and insurance products, financial planning, advice and services.

It will be the first new branch that the society has opened since 1995.

Peter Richardson, chief executive of Derbyshire Building Society, said: "We are delighted to be expanding our branch network in a climate where other financial services providers are closing branches and to create a football first as the only building society with a branch that will cater for a new audience at a football ground.

"As the club's main sponsor, our Pride Park stadium branch will further strengthen our relationship with Derby County as it embarks on a new era in English football's top flight.

"We believe this branch, like Derby County, is a real winner and will be a top of the league facility for people and businesses seeking to achieve their financial goals."

Derby County chairman Peter Gadsby added: "Derbyshire Building Society and Derby County Football Club have enjoyed a thriving partnership over the years - and this new announcement takes things to the next level.

"At a time when many organisations across the country are closing local branches, for the society to be opening up a new one in such an environment as Pride Park shows how strong the company is.

"Both organisations have their roots within the county so this is the next logical step to develop links even further.

"This new branch will be more than just a service for Derby County - its location means it is best-placed to serve the ever-developing Pride Park area and beyond.

"This extension of our relationship with the society comes at an exciting time for the club and further cements our top-flight status, both on and off the field."
