Derby County Partner Schools
Developed through consultation with Derby City Council's physical education adviser, Derbyshire and Derby City Schools Sport Partnerships, head teachers and the Derbyshire County Football Association, the Partner School Scheme aims to add value to the existing core activity programme currently being delivered by our DCITC coaches.
The Partner School Scheme has been created to enhance and develop new and existing relationships with local schools.
This initiative will allow us, as a scheme, to effectively plan our whole schools programme enabling us to forward plan for the whole academic year.
Schools who sign up to this new programme will be given priority over non-partner schools.
This initiative will ensure that we deliver a programme of activities relevant to the identified individual needs of each Partner School.
This will enable us to address gaps in existing provision and deliver sessions that complement the Every Child Matters agenda.
The partnership scheme will allow schools to access the diverse delivery programme offered by the Community Scheme, engaging in activities that complement their existing in-school and extra curricular provision.
Partner Schools will also have access to matchday tickets and potential use of Pride Park Stadium.
The Derby County Partner School Scheme will also offer continuity of delivery. The ongoing involvement and consultation with school sports partnerships will ensure that quality is assured in all delivery areas.
Derby County in the Community's Commitment to the scheme is:
* DCFC Partner School framed certificate.
* Designated DCITC contact (school development officer).
* Support for fundraising activities FOC.
* Assist the application for Football Foundation Junior Kit Scheme (an opportunity for schools to access £400 of Nike kit. The scheme is free and all schools in the county are eligible to apply every three years for a kit).
* DCITC maintain a comprehensive monitoring and evaluation policy which can be adapted to apply to your school's PESSYP figures.
* 40 tickets for one Derby County home match per season FOC at Pride Park Stadium. Tickets allocated subject to availability.
* A competition of the school's choice is run to select one pupil to participate in Rammie's shoot-out on the Pride Park pitch at half time during the above match.
* Access to Derby County's ticketing programme.
Schools' commitment to the scheme is:
* To actively support the partner scheme, utilising the resources of the Derby County in the Community programme and its expertise.
Curriculum coaching
Curriculum coaching days are delivered throughout the academic year in schools within both Derby City and Derbyshire.
The aim of these coaching days is to introduce children to football and in particular Derby County Football Club.
Children undertake sessions during the school day that develop their skills, promote physical activity and healthy lifestyles.
Our coaches ensure in their sessions that all children are catered for and that sessions are differentiated to meet each child's individual needs.
Our team of coaches would normally deliver three sessions during the school day and cater for whole classes in their delivery.
Schools can specify the focus of the delivery and can choose from football specific sessions or utilise the expertise of our coaches and incorporate multi-skill drills in the sessions.
We utilise our coaching programme to engage with those children who may not attend our main coaching programme in holidays, at the weekend and after school.
We work with local clubs and the County Football Association to signpost young players to local Charter Standard Clubs with elite players recruited into our club Academy.
After school clubs
Our after school programme caters for young children who wish to remain on school premises after school and take part in fun football activities under the supervision of Derby County in the Community coaches.
The sessions running directly after school run for one hour. Our provision is usually delivered over a six week period.
Children are required to register with their school and the £18 payment for the six week programme must be paid in advance.
The sessions represent a great opportunity for children to access high quality physical activity provision in a fun and safe environment, while giving parents an excellent child care provision after school.
PPA
Our PPA programme has been developed over the past 18 months to offer schools an outstanding curriculum time provision.
Our coaches are available to take on classes in a structured programme of activities that are differentiated to ensure every child is working to their full potential.
We have developed a number of programmes that schools can access and have up skilled staff to ensure that our delivery is of the highest standard.
Our PPA Support is priced as below:
Football- £80 for half a day, £140 for a full day. Prices negotiable for extended periods of provision.
We also have the ability to deliver programmes that focus on fitness, HPS, multi-skills/fundamentals as well dance and gymnastics (through partners).
Additional PPA sport and physical activity programmes available on request.
All of our PPA provision is clearly differentiated to Key Stages, with flexible assessment criteria to link to individual schools.
Inset days
Our inset days help with parents' child care provision when their child's school hold teacher inset days.
Derby County in the Community coaches will run a coaching fun day at the school during normal school hours ensuring that parents' normal working week is not interrupted.
To ensure that there is very little disruption to teachers' working day, DCITC coaches will meet the children on arrival, register them, supervise them for the whole day and sign them out at the end of the day.
The cost of the day's coaching is £12.50 and for every child who participates, and the school receives £2.50 cash back from the Derby County in the Community scheme.
Sponsored shoot-outs
DCITC's sponsored shoot-outs are a great way for schools to raise money while providing children with a fun and enjoyable activity.
Children are encouraged to gain sponsors for the number of penalties they score from the five they take at our Community coach goalkeepers.
Every child taking part in the shoot-out receives a certificate. Signed footballs and shirts are offered as incentives to the schools to aid the fundraising process.
The money raised is split equally between the host school and the DCITC scheme.
DCITC re-invests its money into the delivery programme, enabling more schools and community groups to access its free coaching provision.
Egg Skills Challenge
With our partners at Egg we have been delivering the skills challenge in schools throughout Derby City and Derbyshire for the past six years.
Over 250 schools and thousands of children have undertaken the challenge.
Delivered over a six week period in curriculum time, the challenge gives children the opportunity to develop their key football skills and achieve a level of performance that is rewarded by a certificate at the end of the programme.
The delivery programme has been developed to allow all children the opportunity to achieve success.
A celebration school assembly is planned for the end of the programme so children can share their success with their peers.
