What is the Mobile Internet?
The Mobile Internet refers to the access to wireless data services using a mobile device such as mobile phones, PDAs and other portable devices connected to a mobile telecoms network. Although the service can be the traditional World Wide Web, WAP (Wireless Application Protocol) is also used as an internet platform for mobile phones, and as such WAP is sometimes used in place of the term mobile internet.
What are the advantages of the Mobile Internet?
-You can access the internet on the move, without the need for a computer
-Mobile internet sites are specifically formatted for small screen sizes, so you don't need to worry about navigating around a big web site on a small screen
-You can download mobile products such as animations, wallpapers and ringtones straight from your phone
How do I get to the mobile internet?
You can access the mobile internet through various routes:
-Direct URL access - On your phone browser enter the club mobile site address (you can find this on the Mobile Internet page on your club website Mobile Zone). Please ensure you enter http:// before the mobile site address.
Depending on your mobile handset, the method used to access your mobile internet browser may differ. In most cases you will have an internet icon on your phone menu which when selected will take you to your network operator's homepage. The entry box for the WAP address is usually located under the 'Options', 'More' or 'Go To' link when you have launched the mobile internet. Please refer to your mobile manufacturer user manual for specific instructions.

-Web Trigger / WAP Push- you can request a WAP push from our club website Mobile Zone. Simply enter your number in the entry space provided and hit Send. Shortly after you will receive a message on your phone which will take you to the mobile site.
The message may be displayed differently depending on your phone - you may be prompted to select 'Go to', click the link in the message or download the link (examples shown below).

How do I bookmark a mobile internet/WAP site?
You can save your favourite sites so that you don't have to enter the WAP address or search for it every time you access the internet on your phone. Whilst using the site you want to save, simply select 'Bookmark' or 'Favourites' from the option menu on your phone.
This site page will then be saved under your 'Bookmarks' or 'Favourites' list whereby you can simply click the link and that site will be launched. Please refer to your mobile manufacturer's user manual for more information on bookmarking.
Why can't I access the mobile internet?
Users must have a WAP/WEB - enabled mobile phone to access the mobile internet site. Almost all phones sold today are WAP enabled however if you are unsure your phone has this feature please contact your network operator support.
Even if your phone is WAP enabled, you may need to manually enable your phone to receive a WAP-push message, which can easily be done through your phone. Please refer to your handset user guide for instructions on how to enable your phone to receive WAP-push messages.
Mobile Internet Charges
We do not charge you for accessing our mobile internet (WAP) site. However, mobile network operator charges for using the internet on your phone will apply. Costs vary from operator to operator. Operators may charge for time spent browsing or amount of data downloaded.
e.g. If an operator charges £2 per MB of data downloaded, it would cost approx. 1 penny to read three pages of a news article on our mobile internet site.
Network operators offer bundle data packages for phone users who use the mobile internet frequently. These are likely to consist of monthly rates for unlimited mobile internet usage or a flat monthly rate for a larger amount of data usage. Please consult your operator to find out their specific packages and charges.
