The new season will bring about a new dawn in Derby County's history as they return to the Barclays Premier League after a five-year absence.

There will be new grounds to visit, a few returns to some popular venues, and the chance to be reunited with a few old friends and foes.

And before Saturday August 11 comes around www.dcfc.co.uk is taking a look at every club Derby will face next season - now it's time for the boys in blue from across Stanley Park, Everton.

Everton fans could be forgiven for a little bit of envy at their city rivals Liverpool's resurgence in recent years.

They only have to look across Stanley Park to see a steady flow of cups arriving back on Merseyside, often won in the most dramatic fashion.

But those in blue should instead be proud of what their club has achieved over the last few seasons.

A couple of decades ago they were challengers for all the top honours but underwent a slump, save for the 1995 FA Cup.

Now though they're back in Europe, having finished sixth in the Premier League last season to qualify for the UEFA Cup.

A couple of years back they reached the qualifying stage of the Champions League after finishing fourth, above Liverpool, though the Reds did of course win the competition that season.

There aren't many grounds that can match Goodison Park for atmosphere, and even in its modern state the ground has been excellently re-developed to maintain its character.

The Merseyside derby is among the most passionate games anywhere in the world and with both clubs up at the right end of the table, football in the city of Liverpool is thriving.
