USA international target Benny Feilhaber was at Pride Park Stadium on Saturday to watch the Rams' Premier League opener against Portsmouth - but there's little prospect of a quick deal being clinched.

International clearance can take as long as a week, and in the meantime talks continue both with Feilhaber and Finnish midfielder Mika Vayrynen.

In both cases no announcement is expected ahead of Wednesday's second game of the campaign at Manchester City.

The Rams were last week granted a work permit for Feilhaber, 22, who plays for SV Hamburg in Germany.

Twenty-five-year-old Vayrynen, also a midfielder who plays for Dutch side PSV Eindhoven, underwent a medical at the weekend, but there is still more work to be done on the potential deal.
