The chance to work with Billy Davies again was too good to turn down for Eddie Lewis.

Winger Lewis joined Derby earlier this week after completing a move from Leeds United.

And he's back together with his old gaffer after the pair initially worked together at Preston North End.

"I'm sad to leave Leeds as I really enjoyed it there but I'm obviously thrilled at the opportunity and looking forward to the challenge," the 33-year-old told RamsWorld.

"There was talk of a few clubs here and there but when I knew Billy was interested I was obviously delighted for that to happen.

"He's a super manager who has been very successful over the years and I'm sure that will continue, so I'm looking forward to being a part of his success.

"I think tactically I'm very comfortable and have a pretty good idea about the way Billy wants to go about things.

"Giving the team some balance on the left and creating a lot of chances for the strikers would ideally be the plan.

"Now I'm just looking forward to making that happen."

Lewis's first taste of English football came when he joined Fulham in 2000.

He scored as then-Premier League Derby were knocked out of the League Cup the following season and went on to win promotion with the Londoners.

But he appeared only once in the top-flight before making the move north to Preston - and he's delighted to get another crack at Premier League life.

"It's always a wonderful opportunity," he said.

"I did enjoy my time at Fulham and would have enjoyed it more with a bit more time on the pitch but unfortunately that wasn't my decision.

"I'm certainly looking forward to the chance and hoping to make the most of it."
