Tyrone Mears says the Rams need to regroup over the next two weeks and go back to square one as they recover from a 6-0 defeat at Liverpool.
"There's a lot of work to do and over the international break we've got to put all of this behind us and work hard," the full-back told www.dcfc.co.uk after the reverse at Anfield.
"We've got two massive games coming up, Newcastle at home and Arsenal away, where we've got to put in a performance.
"It'll be a case of starting from square one.
"The gaffer is going to have to get the tapes out, we've got to sit down and talk, and really go through everything.
"We really have to break it down about where we are on the pitch, who's doing what at what times, everything."
The result at Anfield leaves Derby still looking for their first win back in the Premier League after five games of the new season.
It comes on the back of a defeat at home to Birmingham City seven days ago and a 4-0 scoreline at Tottenham Hotspur on the second Saturday of the campaign.
"The last three results have been really disappointing for us - we've just not performed," Mears said.
"It's not like we've played well and not got the results, we're just not playing well at all.
"We need to forget about the results and start performing, then the wins will come and away from home the draws will come."
The full-back added: "I think we've got good players but I didn't expect us to be in this position.
"The gaffer says we have got a lot of work to do, and we do, but I really do believe that we have got good players here.
"It's just not going for us at the minute and only we can get ourselves out of it.
"Coming here everyone expects you to get beat but the way we lost I feel sorry for the fans who have come up here, it wasn't good enough.
"Credit to the fans though - they were great all afternoon, and even at 6-0 they were still getting right behind us, trying to cheer us on for a goal."
