Chairman Adam Pearson has expressed his delight at appointing Paul Jewell as the new manager of Derby County.

Pearson said: "It was a long day yesterday but Paul is the stand-out candidate with regards to managerial experience.

"I couldn't think of anyone else I would rather go into battle with and I am delighted he is sat beside me today."

Jewell has signed a three-and-a-half-year deal with the Rams.
