ADAM: RAMS ON THE FRONT FOOT
Chairman Adam Pearson is looking forward to Derby County getting "back on the front foot" following the appointment of new manager Paul Jewell.
The 43-year-old was unveiled at a media conference on Wednesday morning after taking over from Billy Davies, who departed at the start of the week.
Pearson was in no doubt that Jewell was the man for the job after meeting with the former Wigan, Bradford and Sheffield Wednesday boss.
"We kick-start again," said Pearson in an interview now being screened on RamsWorld.
"Sometimes you can get worn out with losing and it does become a bit of a siege mentality.
"Now let's get back on the front foot, start to play football, score some goals and start to enjoy it again."
Jewell arrives with Derby at the bottom of the Premier League having earned six points and scored five goals from their 14 games.
But he's familiar with this kind of situation from his spells with Wigan and Bradford - where he kept both in the top-flight against the odds.
"The speed with which Paul decided to come here is very promising for us all," said Pearson.
"I think he saw the potential of the club, the size of it, the facilities, all of his boxes were ticked.
"Paul is a man of his word. He came straight down yesterday and now he is here this morning as our new manager.
"He wanted big crowds, a good stadium, good facilities, and that is what he has got here so he will be going all out to try and keep us in the Premier League.
"He will be meeting the players tomorrow, then straight into the first training session, and straight into preparing for Sunderland.
"Let's go up there and have a good go."
