Lewin Nyatanga is on his way back to Oakwell until May 4 as he re-signs for Barnsley on loan.
The young defender, who spent the first part of the 2007/08 campaign on loan at the South Yorkshire club, returns as the Rams complete two outgoing pieces of business on transfer deadline night.

While Nyatanga is heading for the Championship club, midfielder Bob Malcolm (above) is a free agent after his Derby County contract was cancelled.
Nyatanga made a goal-scoring return to the Rams ranks earlier this month at Portsmouth as an emergency left-back, but after featuring in the FA Cup third round replay victory at Sheffield Wednesday he was sent off in the final minutes of last Saturday's fourth round home defeat against Preston.
Malcolm, signed as a free agent after being released by Rangers just after the August 2006 transfer deadline closed, has managed only 11 first team appearances since, plus three as a substitute. His Derby career has been hit by injury and this season he has started just one Premier League game - the heavy defeat at Liverpool on the first day of September.
Meanwhile the details of Stephen Bywater's loan move to Ipswich have now been finalised and Paul Jewell's two deadline day captures, goalkeeper Roy Carroll from Rangers and defender Alan Stubbs from Everton, are both in contention for a place in the Rams' starting line-up at Birmingham on Saturday.
