Hossam Ghaly is no longer a summer transfer target for Derby County after the expiry of his loan spell.

The Egyptian midfielder joined from Tottenham Hotspur in January for a temporary deal to keep him at Pride Park until the end of the campaign.

He played 16 times in a Derby shirt but does not appear to be in boss Paul Jewell's sights.

The gaffer said: "Hossam had a really good spell and when I spoke to him he said he would like to stay in the Premier League, but if he couldn't find anything he would come to Derby.

"He has played his last game for us now and we will be looking elsewhere."
