"ROB AND KAZ WILL BE GREAT ADDITIONS"

Posted on: Mon 21 Jul 2008

Paul Jewell is looking forward to working with Rob Hulse and Przemyslaw Kazmierczak after revealing he hopes to tie the pair to Derby County on Monday.

Striker Hulse is set to complete a permanent transfer from Sheffield United while midfielder Kazmierczak will join on a season-long loan from Portuguese giants FC Porto.

Both were present at the Don Valley Stadium to watch Saturday's 0-0 pre-season friendly draw with United and Jewell is delighted that they will soon become Rams.

"They will be two great additions to the squad," the gaffer confirmed to www.dcfc.co.uk.

"Rob is a proven goalscorer in the Championship and he has played in the Premier League as well.

"Hopefully he is over his injuries now and we can look forward to him bringing in plenty of quality and experience to the squad.

"Kaz has got a very good pedigree. I saw him playing for Porto against Liverpool in the Champions League last season and I've also seen him at Boavista.

"He is six-feet-three tall, a left-footer and a holding midfielder, which is an area we have been trying to strengthen."

Kazmierczak is set to feature in the Rams' next pre-season friendly, away to Oldham Athletic on Wednesday night, but Hulse's availability will be decided nearer the time.

"I think Rob has a slight abductor strain that he picked up playing for Sheffield United last week so we will see how he is," said Jewell.

Another player who may take part at Boundary Park is Wales international winger John Oster.

The 29-year-old has been training with Derby for the last week and played for the full 90 minutes against Rotherham having appeared as a substitute at Burton Albion three days ago.

He showed plenty of bright touches at the Don Valley Stadium and Jewell is keen to keep an eye on him.

"Today was his first full game since he played against us for Reading on the final day of last season," the gaffer said.

"It was a nightmare game for him to come in to but at least he got 90 minutes and he will possibly be with us at Oldham as we would like him to come and train with us next week."
