NACER SEES GOOD TIMES AHEAD
On-loan ace Nacer Barazite admitted he was disappointed to mark his Derby County debut with a defeat - but he remains confident that good times are ahead for the Rams.
The 18-year-old was thrown on at half-time in Saturday's 1-0 defeat at home to Southampton just days after signing from Arsenal until December 31.
And while it wasn't the best of results to open with he was not too downhearted when he spoke to www.dcfc.co.uk after the final whistle.
"We trained very well this week but in today's match things didn't come off for us and unfortunately we lost the game," Barazite said.
"This was my debut for Derby but I have faith in the club, in the team and in the fans, that we can do well this season.
"It was a difficult game to come in to and we didn't play our best football today.
"But this club is a great club, we play the same 4-4-2 formation as Arsenal, we have a great manager and staff and the crowd is fantastic too.
"That is why I am happy to come here and why Arsene Wenger was happy for me to come here too."
Barazite - twice a scorer against the Rams' reserves last season - has played most of his football for Arsenal in the second-string and has two Carling Cup outings to his name.
His league debut was a new experience but one that he enjoyed and will take plenty from.
"I played a lot of football at Arsenal in the reserves and not that much in the first-team," he continued.
"You can see how different it is with a big crowd around you, with more pressure on the games, and that is what I like as I want to become a better player.
"That is why I made this move. I have come here to become a better player and to help Derby win promotion, and hopefully we can do that.
"I am here until December and I don't know what will happen after that at the moment but I want to do my best for Derby County and help the club move forward."
Barazite won't feature at Preston North End in the Carling Cup second round on Tuesday so he has a full week ahead of him and his eyes on next Saturday's trip to Barnsley.
"Unfortunately I am not allowed to play in the cups but that is not a problem so I will train hard this week for the game on Saturday, when hopefully we can get the three points," he said.
