Defender Jay McEveley has joined Coca-Cola Championship side Preston North End on a month's loan.

The 23-year-old Scottish international started the Rams' first four matches of the season but has since found himself out of the team due to the form of Jordan Stewart.

He is heading north for a month to join Alan Irvine's side.

Derby boss Paul Jewell said: "This move will be a good one for Jay as it will allow him to get some match action under his belt."
