Mile Sterjovski made an appearance from the bench as Australia registered a 4-0 win over Qatar in their World Cup qualifying group game.

The 29-year-old was thrown on at half-time in the Brisbane encounter with Australia already two goals ahead through Tim Cahill and Brett Emerton.

Heavy rain meant that the kick-off was delayed by 30 minutes but the Socceroos were on good form and wrapped up the rout after the break with a second for Emerton and Josh Kennedy's strike.
