Rams boss Paul Jewell was left a happy man after his side turned in a fine all-round performance to earn a 3-0 win over Sheffield Wednesday.
Kris Commons, Miles Addison and Jordan Stewart each netted superb strikes as Derby put in their best performance of the season.
"It was a comprehensive 3-0 win," Jewell admitted afterwards.
"In the first ten minutes we were a bit edgy but after that we got a foot-hold, and once we got the first goal we thought we would go on and win it.
"The second half was full of endeavour and we got our just rewards."
Commons drilled home the first shortly after the half-hour mark before the second period was notable for a first senior strike by Addison and a superb effort from distance by Stewart.
"Miles was due. He had two chalked off against Forest, and you would think his goal would come with a header but it was a terrific run and a good pass from Kris Commons," said Jewell.
"If you take a young kid from the Academy and put him in, particularly having had so many games, you're going to get peaks and troughs.
"He works hard every day and I said to him after the Reading game that it might not be a bad thing for him to have a week without a game as he was suspended against Leeds.
"That showed today as he was fresh, and he and Paul Green feed off each other very well.
"Nacer Barazite gave us quality on the right too. We were pleased to get three goals and it could have been five or six."
Of Stewart's stunner, the gaffer added: "It was nice to see it stay in the stadium!
"Jordan has had a few shots this year and some are still going. It was a nice bit of interplay leading up to it though, and he only had one thing on his mind."
Jewell continued: "But we are not getting too carried away. We still need to improve the squad, and we have been trying to do that.
"But we have got a great spirit at the moment. This was our ninth game in 28 days and it is a credit to their fitness levels and desire that we have won the majority of them.
"We are scoring goals and creating chances at the moment.
"A lot of our results have been ground out without really hitting the heights of playing fantastic football.
"Today, if it wasn't for their goalkeeper, it could have been five or six, which shows we're creating the chances.
"You can see the work ethic and confidence through the team during that last 20 minutes and it was nice for the management and supporters to be able to sit and watch that."
The result also marked Derby's first home clean sheet this season - breaking a sequence of conceding exactly one goal in every game - and only a second overall in 2008/09.
"That is important from a goal difference and a confidence point of view as when we have won games we have conceded too, and it all adds up," said Jewell.
"It is good for the back four and the goalkeeper."
