Kris Commons may have taken the sponsors' man-of-the-match award but Miles Addison certainly pushed his fellow goalscorer all the way.

The young midfielder spoke to www.dcfc.co.uk following the Rams' 3-0 victory over Sheffield Wednesday - his side's best performance of the season.

Buoyed by his 52nd-minute strike, Addison revealed the secret to finally getting off the mark.

"I have enjoyed that part of my game, breaking things up and getting forward, and I think today when I did break it up I kept going and luckily the ball came to me, I beat the defender and the finish was decent enough to beat Granty (former Derby keeper Lee Grant)," he said.

"The management and the coaching staff and the think I'm a big physical lad but that I can't shoot.

"I have always been confident if a get a one on one chance I would test the keeper.

"As soon as I skip past the defender I knew I was going to pull it across the keeper.

"I have always been told when you are at that tight an angle put it across the keeper, and I was happy with the finish.

"I felt fresh going into the game. The Tuesday-Saturday schedule is very demanding, and all the games we have played in the last month have been hard for the lads.

"I was obviously disappointed to miss the Leeds match but I was glad to get the rest and today I stamped my authority on the game.

"We now have week's rest before Ipswich then it is back into the Tuesday-Saturday scenario again."
