Jordan Stewart hopes to silence the banter of his colleagues after opening his Derby County goal account with a stunner in Saturday's 3-0 win over Sheffield Wednesday.
The former Watford defender got off the mark in some style as he smashed home a powerful effort from 30 yards to wrap up the win.
And he admitted that the conversation at Moor Farm had been about his lack of goalscoring prowess - but now he hopes to have proved his point.
"It just opened up for me so I decided to have a shot," he said of the seconds before his left-footer whistled past former Derby keeper Lee Grant.
"The boys have been giving me a bit of stick in training and saying that I'm never going to score this season so it was nice for that one to go in!
"I don't really get tap-ins as I'm not forward for corners or that often so that was definitely in the top-two of my career.
"As it was my first for my new club it was special and hopefully I can get a few more."
Of the victory over the Owls, Stewart added: "It was nice to get the win and as a defender it is always nice to keep a clean sheet as we have not kept many.
"That was a good all-round performance, we were on top and killed the game with the three goals.
"We didn't have the best of games against Reading or Leeds so it was good to come back and play well, and get the result with it."
