Talented Exeter City man Dean Moxey has agreed his move to Derby County, subject to completing a medical and paper work.
The 23-year-old has arrived from the Grecians for an undisclosed fee and will become the Rams' fourth signing of the summer when his medical is completed.
Moxey has played a starring role in their rise from Blue Square Premier to League 1 in the space of two seasons and first came to Derby boss Nigel Clough's attentions when playing against Burton Albion in the BSP.
The player himself, who has agreed a three-year deal, is already looking forward to taking his chance.
"I'm an Exeter lad and I've loved my time there," he said.
"I would only ever have left to a club I believed would give me the opportunity to progress my career to a higher level.
"Derby have offered me a tremendous opportunity to do that and I'm grateful.
"I'll give everything I've got to make a success of it here.
"The Gaffer (Nigel Clough) impressed me with his plans for the club and how he intends the team to play their football.
"It's a massive club that has huge potential and I'm looking forward to being part of a squad that will try to fulfill it.
"I can't wait to get stuck into pre-season training."
Clough says Moxey fits the bill of being a hungry, young player looking to take the next steps in his career.
The gaffer added: "Dean is a very exciting player who we have known about and admired for some time.
"He's enjoyed back to back promotions at Exeter as a key member of that team and has the hunger and desire to play at a higher level.
"His attitude and character is spot on and he's expressed his aspiration to improve and fight for a place in our team."
Exeter-born Moxey possesses a tremendous left foot and is equally at home either on the left of a back four or wide in midfield.
He came through the ranks at his hometown club to make his debut in October 2003, and in January 2005 he was part of the Exeter side that famously held Manchester United to a 0-0 draw at Old Trafford in the third round of the FA Cup.
While with Exeter he lined up for the England C side, made up of the non-league game's top players, and crowned his 150th appearance for the club with a man-of-the-match performance at Wembley as they returned to the Football League via the play-off final in 2008.
Moxey missed just three games as Exeter made it back-to-back promotions by finishing second in League 2, and has 196 career outings to his name with 24 goals scored.
The Rams have also snapped up powerful centre-half Jake Buxton from Burton, talented midfielder Ben Pringle from Ilkeston Town and flying winger Lee Croft from Norwich City.
