Derby County CEO and President Tom Glick believes the 09/10 fixture list is great for the supporters.
Today's release of Derby's fixture list has been a hot topic here at Pride Park. The first fortnight of Championship football sees the Rams go head to head with newly promoted Peterborough and Scunthorpe United, with highly anticipated encounters with rivals Nottingham Forest and Leicester City soon after.
Glick said: "We won't have to wait long to face our biggest rivals. We and every Derby supporter are looking for when and where we are playing Nottingham Forest.
"The 29th August will be at the City Ground, they'll come back and we'll play them on the 30th January here at our place.
The draw offers supporters a handful of home ties on Saturday afternoons, which always proves to be an exciting start to the weekend.
Glick continued: "It's a great fixture list for the supporters. We're at home at Pride Park Stadium for 17 Saturdays, plus Boxing Day and Easter Monday at home. Only four Tuesday nights. It's a great schedule, which I think lines up terrifically for supporters.
Derby know that Peterborough United will be bringing their winning momentum from League 1 to the opening game of the season, so a capacity crowd will be needed to spur on the black and white.
"We fully expect to have a sell out crowd for the 8th of August when we get started. We expect to make Pride Park a fortress when Peterborough comes in and we expect to get the better.
"We'd expect them to take somewhere around 3,000 tickets. They'll be excited and we'll just have to match them blow for blow.
After such an eventful 08/09 season with Carling Cup success and the appointment of a new manager, already 09/10 is under 50 days away.
Tom Glick concluded: "The season will be here in no time.
"We couldn't be more excited and we're going to make the most of every minute.
Supporters should keep their eyes peeled for offers on match day tickets appearing in the coming weeks and months.
