LEE: "BRISTOL WIN CAN BE TURNING POINT"

Posted on: Tue 29 Sep 2009

Lee Croft hopes that Derby County's victory over Bristol City at the weekend can be the turning point of the Rams' season.

After enduring a run of four successive defeats the Rams notched their first win a month with a thoroughly deserved 1-0 victory at Pride Park Stadium on Saturday.

The winger is now targeting a unbeaten run of three games going into the international break next week - with Derby facing a trip to Cardiff City this evening and then the visit of Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday.

Croft told dcfc.co.uk: "It was a great three points on Saturday; I said before the game I hoped it would be the start of a run.

"It seemed to be the same old story as we had a load of chances and didn't take them, but Gary Teale's goal could be the turning point for us now.

"Now we need to go on a run of a few games unbeaten, we've got over the hurdle of getting a victory under our belts and now it is time to kick on.

Croft is now relishing the trip to Wales to take on Cardiff; the Rams' first-ever trip to the new Cardiff City Stadium.

"Another game is just what we need after Saturday, we're upbeat and what better place to go than Cardiff," he said.

"They have a new stadium and a lovely pitch for us to play our football on and hopefully we can go there, produce again and come away with a result.

"The confidence never left us so this one win hasn't suddenly changed us, so we will go there believing we can win as always.

"It is important to get some points before the international break, we have two good games now to kick on - this has to be the start of things to come."
