GAFFER HAILS GREAT EXERCISE
Clough happy with Rams Dutch display
Rams Gaffer Nigel Clough declared himself "satisfied", after watching his side put in a decent display in a competitive contest against Dutch Premier League side ADO Den Haag this evening.
Derby lost 1-0 in The Hague, with Miles Addison making an impressive return to the starting eleven and Paul Green gaining some valuable match time.
Clough said it was a good performance and a job well done.
Speaking exclusively to dcfc.co.uk from the ADO Den Haag Stadium in The Hague, he said: "The result isn't that important but it is pleasing to have played well.
"We came here to get some game time into certain players and one of those was Miles Addison.
"He was excellent, looking strong and dominant at the back alongside Dean Leacock.
"Paul Green was another player we wanted to see play more football and he was sharper again this evening, which bodes well for the Swansea City game when we return to Championship action.
"Den Haag are a good side, who pass the ball very well, so we had to work extremely hard tonight to compete.
"I was impressed with how we dug in early on and played our way into the ascendancy as the match wore on.
"We hit their post and their crossbar and put them under pressure for periods of the game.
"It has certainly been a worthwhile exercise and one that we will benefit from.
"I would also like to thank Den Haag for the hospitality they showed us and the professional way the game was staged.
"Also, we are grateful, as ever, to the intrepid band of Derby County supporters who follow us all over the country and all over the Europe.
"It was great to see them in the Stadium this evening and we hoped they enjoyed the trip."
