Striker Luke Varney took his tally to three goals in his last two matches for Sheffield Wednesday, but the Owls ultimately tasted defeat at Nottingham Forest on Saturday afternoon. Varney crashed home a 73rd minute equaliser at the City Ground to cancel out Dexter Blackstock's opening goal, but the former QPR forward hammered home the winning goal soon after Varney's effort.
In League One Lewis Price was again not involved in Brentford's matchday squad in their 4-0 victory over Gillingham at Griffin Park. After being the first choice with the Bees early in the season in goal he has lost his place to Wojciech Szczesny, who is on loan from Arsenal, and has made one appearance in 2010 for the Bees.
Another goalkeeper out on loan but not in action at the weekend was Ross Atkins, who is coming to the end of his month-long loan spell at League Two Burton Albion. The DCFC Academy graduate joined the Brewers last month as cover for Artur Krysiak and Kevin Poole.
Winger Greg Mills was an unused substitute for Macclesfield Town as they fell to a 1-0 home defeat to Shrewsbury Town in League Two. He joined the Silkmen last week and could make his debut in midweek at promotion chasers Bury.
