SAV CURSES THE FINE CHAMPIONSHIP LINE

Posted on: Tue 23 Feb 2010

Robbie Savage was left cursing the fine line between winning and losing in the Championship after Derby County's 1-0 defeat to Swansea City on Saturday.

Derby tasted defeat at home in the league for the first time since 9 January thanks to Shefki Kuqi's second-half header.

The Finland international's effort found the back of the net via the woodwork, while at the other end the woodwork denied Michael Tonge a late equaliser.

The Derby skipper admitted defeat was harsh on the Rams, but insists they can bounce back at West Bromwich Albion on Saturday.

"It was a scrap and a grind out there on Saturday, and I think a draw would have been a fair result," Savage told dcfc.co.uk.

"I don't think anyone deserved to win, and I don't think anyone deserved to lose either.

"There is a fine line between winning and losing in the Championship, as we saw when Michael Tonge's free-kick came off the underside of the bar late on.

"The frustrating thing is, we didn't get started and I actually think we could have beaten Swansea.

"The game seemed to pass everyone by I think but with a full week behind us I am sure we will be ready for West Bromwich Albion this weekend.

"It is another big game for us, and one we're really looking forward to.

"We've had a good run of late; there's plenty to be positive about and we're confident we can get the wins we need to be safe and kick on from there."
