Derby County defender Miles Addison will next week travel to America to undergo a procedure on his troublesome foot injury.

The England U21 international has seen his season blighted by the injury, making just six appearances since September.

Manager Nigel Clough wants the problem rectifying once and for all and Addison will undergo surgical fixation of his navicular in his right foot.

"He's 21 and has got another 10 years or so in him but if we don't fix it now, he will always be dogged by the problem," said Clough.

"We've found somebody in San Francisco who specialises in this kind of injury, so we're flying him over there next week.

"It is a rare injury but he's treated about 75 similar cases, so he's about as good as there is in the world at the moment.

"So we will get him over there and in the best hands that we can."
