Goalkeeper David Martin has returned to Liverpool after the conclusion of his one-month loan with Derby County.

The 24-year-old old answered Derby's SOS call for a goalkeeper last month with Stephen Bywater sidelined with a back injury and understudy Saul Deeney suspended.

Martin stepped in for two matches, away at Doncaster and at home to Middlesbrough.

Manager Nigel Clough said: "David has returned to Liverpool and we wish him well.

"He has been a fantastic professional during his time with us, working exceptionally hard on the training ground and when he did play he didn't put a foot wrong."

Martin is out of contract at the end of the season at Anfield and despite entering into discussions over a new deal he stated upon his arrival at Derby that he is looking to find a new home in search of regular first-team football.
