David Martin is determined to carry on where he left off when he returns for pre-season training.
Martin, 25 today, turned his loan spell with Derby County from Millwall into a permanent one earlier this week.
The left-winger opened his goalscoring account for the Rams in the final game of last season against Cardiff City.
Brimming with confidence, Martin wants to take his end of season form into the 2010/11 season.
"The Cardiff performance put down a marker from me in terms of what I want to achieve next season," Martin exclusively told Rams Player.
"Two starts and one goal is a good return and I felt I did ok, and I want to take it all into pre-season and next year.
"Hopefully we can hit the ground running and be challenging higher up the in the table next season.
"I had a lot of the ball against Cardiff and my confidence grew and grew.
"To score was amazing; I was thinking about it that night and how great it felt in front of 30,000 fans.
"It was the biggest crowd I've scored in front of and I want to do it more and more."
Martin enjoyed his five-month loan stint with Derby and is looking forward to a bright future with the Rams.
"It is nice to be here and my future is secure which is very pleasing," he said.
"It has been a big change for me moving up from London.
"I had never been away from home either, so it has been about settling into new surroundings.
"I'm playing at a higher level and it has been a big challenge, but everyone has been really welcoming which helped.
"The staff, players and fans have all been first class here which makes settling in so much easier.
"I think the five months I've had have been hugely beneficial ahead of next season.
"I know what to expect and I can't wait for next year.
"I had to wait for my first start against Crystal Palace, but I felt I did ok and the gaffer was happy with me."
