Loan Watch: Mendy Makes Debut For Tranmere

Posted on: Wed 01 Sep 2010

Derby County's Arnaud Mendy made his debut for Tranmere Rovers last night, only hours after joining the npower League One side on a month's loan.

He came off the bench at half-time as Tranmere bowed out of the Johnstone's Paint Trophy on penalties to League Two Accrington Stanley.

The two sides drew 1-1 after 90 minutes, prompting the tie to go straight to penalties to decide who progressed to the next round.

Accrington converted all their penalties, going through 5-3.

Mendy was introduced into the action as a half-time substitute at Prenton Park, coming on for former Liverpool midfielder John Welsh.

Tranmere manager Les Parry said: "Mendy came on at half time for John Welsh and we saw some glimpses of what he can do."

Mendy could make his league debut for Tranmere at the weekend, with Rovers at home to promotion chasing Peterborough United.
