Derby County CEO Tom Glick has spoken exclusively to dcfc.co.uk to review Derby County's activity in the transfer window.
In the exclusive free to view interview, Glick speaks about the exciting signing of Alberto Bueno from Real Valladolid and explains the reasons behind the transfer of Rob Hulse to Queens Park Rangers in detail.
Glick also revealed the club will be proactive in the transfer market once the emergency loan window opens next week.
He said: "We're very excited with Alberto's signing. He is a player with great quality and he will think he will bring something new and different to the side, as well as excitement to the supporters.
"He had a lot of options to choose from, but he wanted to come to Derby County. We've had a chance to watch him, meet him and find out about his character.
"We feel he has the right attributes to adapt to life in England and in Derby, and he comes highly recommended from the highest levels in Spanish game.
"We have really pushed the boat out for him and we believe he can advance his career with us.
"He hits the bill in terms of being a young, hungry and ambitious player who is excited about playing for Derby County and Nigel Clough."
On Hulse's departure, Glick commented: "Ultimately we are focused on players who will be part of our future.
"Rob was unavailable to start four of our first five games this season, and he was out of contract at the end of the season.
"Those are just some of the factors we've had to take into account when making this decision.
"We know what Rob can deliver, but ultimately we are looking to build a side for the future.
"We understand some supporters will be disappointed Rob has left, but we're conscious of that and replacing those goals he scored and we are committed to doing that.
"Ultimately it was a football decision, made by the manager and his staff, and a decision that we believe is right for the football club moving forwards."
The emergency loan window opens next week, and Glick says Derby will be active in pursuing their transfer targets.
He revealed: "A target man is one area of the team we did not fill yesterday.
"However there will be more players, and better players, available in a week's time when the window re-opens for the emergency loan system.
"We have work to do, and we have a number of options available to us to ensure that position is filled.
"More players will come in, and top of the list is a target man to come in and challenge Chris Porter for that role up front.
"The new home-grown 25-man squad rule makes more players available from Premier League clubs who weren't necessarily available.
"Because of injuries we are temporarily light in terms of options, and it is perhaps an illusion that we are permanently light on options."
