Green Plays Full 90 For Ireland

Posted on: Tue 07 Sep 2010

Paul Green collected his fifth cap for the Republic of Ireland on Tuesday evening as the Irish maintained their winning start to their Euro 2012 qualification campaign.

Off the back of last Friday's 1-0 win in Armenia, Giovanni Trapattoni's side defeated Andorra 3-1 at the Aviva Stadium.

The Derby midfielder was named in the starting XI and played the full 90 minutes.

Hull City's Kevin Kilbane and Wolves' Kevin Doyle were on target in the first half, with Andorra pulling a goal back through Cristian Martinez before the interval.

Ireland skipper Robbie Keane added a third early in the second period, with Green involved in the build-up to the Tottenham striker's finish from close range to round off the scoring.

Next up for Ireland are Russia at home and Slovakia away in October in their latest Euro 2012 qualifiers.

Green will now return to Derby to join in the preparations for Saturday's npower Championship game at home to Sheffield United.
