MATCH PREVIEW: DERBY v EVERTON

Posted on: Thu 25 Oct 2007

Sunday lunch is out of the window for the Rams this weekend as they look to build on last Saturday's 0-0 draw at Fulham.

Everton are the visitors to Pride Park Stadium for a 2pm kick-off, though the game isn't on TV - it's been moved due to the Toffees' UEFA Cup action on Thursday night.

It's a battle of Scot v Scot as Billy Davies pits his wits against David Moyes, both of course former managers of Preston North End too.

Everton's form this season has been mixed as they sit just below mid-table in the Premier League, though they're only six points adrift of the top four.

They're at home to Larissa on Thursday night - Derby will be hoping they suffer from a UEFA Cup hangover come Sunday.

TEAM NEWS

Derby defender Jay McEveley is expected to be fit after suffering a neck injury in last week's draw at Fulham.

But Claude Davis and Dean Leacock, who were both forced off at Craven Cottage with groin problems, are rated as doubts.

Andy Todd has been struggling with back and hamstring problems over recent weeks and is being continually monitored.

MATCH FACTS

Derby CountyEverton

Derby striker Steve Howard needs one more appearance to reach 550 in his professional career.

Giles Barnes is one start shy of 50 for the Rams in all competitions. He has made a further 21 substitute appearances.

Barnes also needs one more goal for ten in a Derby shirt.

Everton's sole win at Pride Park came on their last visit when they pinched a 4-3 thriller in March 2002.

Derby's record defeat came against Everton - an 11-2 reverse back in January 1890.

Midfielders Lee Carsley and Leon Osman are set to feature against their former club.

Osman had an impressive loan spell with the Rams in 2004 while Carsley came up through the ranks and was part of the squad that got promoted to the Premier League and established itself in the top-flight in the late-1990s.

THE REFEREE

Experienced official Steve Bennett is the man in the middle on Sunday.

Bennett heads up from Kent for his first assignment at Pride Park in exactly six years, when he officiated during the 1-1 draw at home to Chelsea on October 28 2001.

He did see Derby action last season however and flashed his red card to Birmingham's Gary McSheffrey in the defeat at St Andrews.

This time around he has issued six reds in 11 games, including two in a game on two occasions, along with a further 43 cautions.
