Michael joined Derby County on loan from Premier League Stoke City on 1 February 2010 until the end of the season.
The midfielder has found his opportunities limited at the Britannia Stadium since making the switch from Sheffield United in 2008.
Tonge established himself as one of the most consistent performers in the Championship with the Blades between 2001 and 2008, making just over 250 appearances and notching 28 goals.
His form earned him a £2 Million move to Stoke in 2008, but the impressive form of the Potters' players since their promotion to the Premier League have restricted him to just a handful of appearances.
Earlier this season he enjoyed a loan spell at Championship side Preston North End.
