Dean was a star of Exeter City's rise from the Blue Square Premier to League 1 in successive seasons - and now he has his chance in the Championship.
He first came to the attentions of Derby boss Nigel Clough when playing against the gaffer's Burton Albion side in the BSP.
Exeter-born Moxey possesses a tremendous left foot and is equally at home either on the left of a back four or wide in midfield.
He came through the ranks at his hometown club to make his debut in October 2003, and in January 2005 he was part of the Exeter side that famously held Manchester United to a 0-0 draw at Old Trafford in the third round of the FA Cup.
While with Exeter he lined up for the England C side, made up of the non-league game's top players.
He crowned his 150th appearance for the club with a man-of-the-match performance at Wembley as they returned to the Football League via the play-off final in 2008.
Moxey missed just three games as Exeter made it back-to-back promotions by finishing second in League 2, and has 196 career outings to his name with 24 goals scored.
