Miles first broke through to the senior scene as a 17-year-old - but then had to wait two years between appearances two and three.
His debut came on Easter Monday 2006 when, as a first-year Academy scholar, he was called in to face Hull City at Pride Park Stadium.
Addison kept his place at centre-half the following week at Ipswich Town but was back in the Academy ranks for 2006/07 before signing a two-year professional deal at the end of the campaign.
And senior appearance number three arrived in May 2008 when he lined up at Ewood Park to face Blackburn Rovers in a Premier League clash.
Addison impressed greatly in a switch to midfield and signed a new contract having deservedly kept his place in the starting XI with his excellent displays.
After being cruelly denied his first senior strike late in the dramatic draw with Nottingham Forest, he finally broke his duck on November 15 with a fine goal in the 3-0 beating of Sheffield Wednesday.
And a major honour came his way just before Christmas as he was named captain for the first time and led the team well in the 1-0 win at home to Watford.
Addison got 2009 underway by signing a further contract extension to the summer of 2012, and soon found himself back at centre-half where he didn't look out of place.
He ended the 2008/09 campaign on a high note when he collected the Sammy Crooks Trophy as the club's young player of the year - and his performances were recognised at the start of the 2009/10 season with a call-up to the England U21 squad.
