London-born centre-half Jermaine joined the Rams after being released as a schoolboy by Chelsea and signed professional terms at the start of the 2009/10 season.
He spent two years in the Academy where he impressed with his attitude and his performances at the heart of the back four.
Johnson is a tall and powerful play who is also good on the ball and very vocal when on the pitch.
He joined Blue Square North side Stafford Rangers on loan in September 2009 to aid his football development, and after returning to Pride Park for a brief spell he returned to Stafford - again on loan - in November 2009 for two months.
