Ross Atkins, Derby-born and a Derby fan, first appeared for the Rams' reserves as a schoolboy as early as 2005 at Pride Park Stadium.
A former England U18 squad member, Atkins has featured for both the Rams' youth and reserve teams in recent years.
Ross was named in the matchday squad for the first time as an unused substitute in Derby's 2-1 win over Coventry in November 2009.
He is yet to turn out at first-team level for Derby but has aided his development during the last two seasons with loan spells at Southport, Burton Albion and Kidderminster Harriers.
In the closing weeks of last season he acted as cover for Saul Deeney in the final two games when Stephen Bywater was injured.
Ross joined Tamworth of the Blue Square Premier on a month's loan in August 2010 to gain more first team experience.
