Ross Atkins, Derby-born and a Derby fan, first appeared for the Rams' reserves as a schoolboy as early as 2005 at Pride Park Stadium.
A former England U18 squad member, Atkins has featured for both the Rams' youth and reserve teams in recent years.
He is yet to turn out at first-team level but aided his development last season with two loan spells at non-league side Southport.
Ross was named in the matchday squad for the first time as an unused substitute in Derby's 2-1 win over Coventry in November 2009.
In January 2010 Ross joined Coca-Cola League Two Burton Albion on a month's loan and after a month with the Brewers he was on the move again, this time to Blue Square Premier side Kidderminster Harriers, again on a month's loan.
