He enjoyed his first taste of first-team football as a late substitute on the final day of the 2009/10 season, with Derby defeating Cardiff City 2-0.
With Derby's striking options limited early in the 2010/11 season he was promoted to the first-team squad and featured as a late substitute in the 2-2 draw with Queens Park Rangers at the end of August.
