A Republic of Ireland youth international, Ryan graduated from the Derby County Academy in the summer of 2010 having made his professional debut on the final day of the 2009/10 campaign.
His moment came against Cardiff City when he came on as a substitute towards the end of the Championship encounter which Derby won 2-0.
Connolly had been amongst the substitutes earlier in the season as an unused substitute in the FA Cup 5th Round tie against Premier League Birmingham City.
The skilful left-sided attacker has been on the scene at Derby for some time and appeared for the reserves back in the 2007/08 season, while also being a regular for the Academy side over recent seasons.
