Goalkeeper Saul joined Derby in the summer of 2009 - teaming up with his former Manager Nigel Clough at Pride Park.
The former Republic of Ireland U21 International has previous Football League experience with Notts County and is set to provide competition and cover for Stephen Bywater.
After signing professional forms with County in 2001, Deeney had to wait until March 2003 to make his debut in a 3-2 win over Huddersfield Town at Meadow Lane, after loan spells at Hull City, Ilkeston Town and Gresley Rovers.
He finally made himself first choice under Ian Richardson during the 2004/05 season but left for pastures new after a change of management and teamed up with Burton Albion.
He featured in the Brewers' run to the third round of the FA Cup, where they held Manchester United to a 0-0 draw at the Pirelli Stadium before losing the replay at Old Trafford.
Saul made a dramatic return to Meadow Lane in 2006 under Steve Thompson, but was unable to force the experienced Kevin Pilkington out of the team and he returned to Burton a year later and he helped play a significant part in their promotion to the Football League before opting to join the Rams.
