Rammie Out & About: June 2011

Posted on: Tue 19 Jul 2011

Derby County mascot Rammie pens his official blog for dcfc.co.uk to reveal what he has been up to this month.

Hello Rams fans!

My monthly blog back to give you, the Derby fans, an insight into my busy month…and there's been plenty going on!

I hope you are all well and looking forward to the new season starting. The fixtures are out now and I can't wait to see you all at Pride Park on the first day of the season against Birmingham City.

This month has been very exciting again, mainly because I have been teasing the players at the training ground about the hard work that they will be undergoing during pre-season training and obviously picking on some of the new boys like Bryson and Maguire! I love my job!

Out They Come:
Here I am at the Reckitt and Benckiser tournament

At the start of the month I was involved with the Reckitt and Benckiser tournaments held at our Moor Farm Training Ground where I lead the teams out. They put on some impressive games of football and the day proved to a huge success for all the teams.

My main role on the day was to occupy the young ones. I did a great job as always by organising a penalty shoot-out and a 5-a-side game as well, which eventually turned into a 10 Vs 1 game against me! Unfortunately, but not surprisingly, I lost the match but it was good fun!

Throughout the middle of the month again my time was filled up by loads of your football presentations. This year there have been lots of great teams and players claiming awards with their junior teams - WELL DONE EVERYONE!

Also this month you might have cheekily seen me interrupt another sport. I was at a Derbyshire Falcons' T20 game with my good friend 'Freddy the Falcon' who raced me at the interval on an assault course. We teased the crowd together and unfortunately the Falcons lost on the night, but the atmosphere and game was fantastic and everyone had a great time.

One of the main events at Pride Park Stadium that I was involved in was the 'Fathers Day' dinner in the Toyota Suite. I met lots of Dads and Granddads with their children of all ages. It doesn't matter how old you are, everyone still loves a cuddle and a photo with Rammie!

Getting Hungry:
Here I am at the new Greggs shop on St Peter's Street

The last appearance on the list in June was opening the new Greggs bakery on St Peters Street in Derby City Centre. Lots of Rams fans visited the store to get their hands on a free pastry if they had their Derby shirt on, and I also helped hand out some free cakes.

I asked the Greggs manager if they could possibly make me a grass and hay pasty for myself, but they kindly declined!

Oh well, back to eating the grass here at the Stadium now it's almost completely grown and ready for the season to begin.

I will be back in a month's time to update you with what I've been doing during July!

Don't forget to enquire about Rammie coming to your event by emailing rammie@dcfc.co.uk or call 0871 472 1884 for more details.
