Adam was one of a number of players to join Nigel Clough’s Derby County squad in the summer of 2011, and add to the goalkeeping options at Pride Park from npower League Two Burton Albion.
He is viewed as exciting shot-stopper to push Frank Fielding all the way for the number one spot at Pride Park and when he has been called upon, he has proved he is more than capable of performing in the npower Championship.
Adam’s Derby bow came from the bench in dramatic circumstances in the side’s 2-1 win at Nottingham Forest in September 2011 after Fielding was sent off in the opening minutes, and he went on to keep a clean sheet the following weekend against Millwall.
He re-joined Burton on loan in March 2012 to get game time under his belt but a hip injury restricted him to just one outing before he returned to Pride Park to make two further appearances after Fielding injured his groin in the final weeks of the season.
A former Birmingham City trainee, Legzdins never featured for the Blues’ first-team but he had loan spells at Alfreton Town, Halifax Town, Macclesfield Town and Oldham Athletic to gain match experience.
He eventually left Birmingham in 2008 and spent two years at Crewe Alexandra, but he only made eight appearances for the Gresty Road side. He rejected fresh terms in favour of a move to Burton in the summer of 2010, and he went on to keep 11 cleans sheets in 46 league outings.
Through his grandparents he is eligible to play for Lativa, but he is yet to gain an international cap.
