No action for Hughes - defeats for Gjokaj & Sharpe.

dcfc.co.uk takes a look back at how Derby County’s players on international duty fared on Tuesday evening.

Midfielder Will Hughes was an unused substitute for England’s Under 21s as they drew 1-1 away to Finland.

Saido Berahino equalised for England in the second half after Moshtagh Yaghoubi's free-kick had put the hosts ahead in the 2015 European Championships Qualifier, but they had to settle for a draw after Andrew Wisdom was sent off midway through the second half.

Despite a promising appearance off the bench last Thursday for the Three Lions in their 1-0 win over Moldova, Hughes was forced to watch on from the bench in what was Gareth Southgate’s second game in charge of the England’s Under 21s.

Defender Valentin Gjokaj played the full game for Albania’s Under 21s as they travelled to reigning European Under 21 Champions Spain, who inflicted a 4-0 defeat on their opponents in another Euro 2015 Qualifier.

Finally, versatile left-sider Rhys Sharpe was capped at Under 21 level for the first time by Northern Ireland.

He played the full game away to Belgium, but he wasn’t able to mark the occasion with a positive result as they fell to a 1-0 defeat.

Derby trio Conor Sammon (Republic of Ireland Vs Austria), Jamie Ward (Northern Ireland Vs Luxembourg) and Craig Bryson (Scotland Vs Macedonia) have international matches at senior level to play on Tuesday evening before returning to the Rams squad on Wednesday.
