Defender makes loan move across the A52.
Derby County defender Kieron Freeman has joined League 1 Notts County on an emergency loan deal until January 2014.
The Wales Under 21 international full-back has found himself unable to break into Head Coach Steve McClaren’s starting XI in recent weeks, following the arrival of Andre Wisdom from Liverpool on loan until the end of the season.
As a result, like Michael Jacobs who yesterday joined Wolverhampton Wanderers in a similar arrangement, Freeman has been allowed to go out on loan in order to play first-team football on a more regular basis.
The 21-year-old has made seven appearances for Derby this season in all competitions, the last of which came in mid-September against Leicester City in the Third Round of the Capital One Cup.
In total he has made 27 appearances since joining Derby from local rivals Nottingham Forest at the beginning of last season.
Freeman is a familiar face at Meadow Lane after he spent the second half of the 2011/12 campaign with the Magpies on loan from Forest, where he made 19 appearances and scored his single career goal to date.
He has become their new manager Shaun Derry’s first signing since he took charge last week and will go straight into the squad for their Johnstone’s Paint Trophy Northern Area Quarter Final away to Oldham Athletic this evening.
